Spiritual Care committee

The purpose of the Spiritual Care Committee is to assist the pastor(s) in the general, spiritual care of the congregation, support and participate in congregational visitation with the pastor(s), including ministry in crisis situations, life transitions, and spiritual growth.


The duties of the Spiritual Care Committee shall include the following:

  1. Initiate and coordinate the visitation for members of the congregation, and help arrange transport for those in need.
  2. Using expertise from the committee members, the congregation, and the community, provide assistance to individuals or groups in crisis situations (such as death, divorce, illness, etc) and other life transitions
  3. To work with the pastor(s), to nurture peer support systems for spiritual growth and mutual support
  4. Review the church roll annually and recommend, to the Session, transfers to the inactive roll.
  5. Provide organizational liaison with the other organizations/groups within the congregation, which are not under jurisdiction of another committee, such as the Prayer Chain, Love Letters, and the Shepherding ministry
