Personnel Committee

The purpose of the Personnel Committee is to establish, for approval by the Session, policies and procedures for employment and work of the paid staff, and recommend to the Session any changes in the paid staff.


The duties of the Personnel Committee include the following:

  1. Review contracts of staff members; recommend changes in salaries, other benefits and duties at least annually.

  2. Obtain a signed contract for each staff member annually.

  3. In consultation with the appropriate committee(s) and/or pastor, evaluate the performance of all staff members and report findings to the Session, at least annually.

  4. Evaluate the performance of the Pastor, with input from Session, and report findings to the Session, at least annually.

  5. Recommend to the Session, persons to fill positions or release of existing staff mambers, other than the ordained staff.

  6. Maintain current job descriptions of all paid positions.

  7. Advertise for vacant positions.

  8. Coordinate interviews.

  9. Conduct the background check on potential hires.
