Christian Education

The Christian Education Committee (CE) strives for excellence for the entire Hunter Presbyterian Church family in its Christian Education development and spiritual growth.  The purpose of CE is to plan, develop, organize, supervise, and continually evaluate a program by which all members of the congregation can become servants of God, to know Jesus Christ, to continually grow in faith, and to act more fully as members of His visible body in the world.

 

Duties of the Christian Education Committee include the following:

  1. Develop and supervise the educational program of the church on Sunday morning.  Recommend classes and educational objectives.

  2. Select and order educational materials and supplies, and present any, needing approvale, to the Session.

  3. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer teachers and any paid personnel.

  4. Develop and supervise, with Session approval, any other educational programs of the church which the committee may determine to be consistent with the general purpose of Christian Education.  Recommend to the Session the starting and ending of such special courses.

  5. Develop and supervise a program for youth of the church.  Determine objectives, select and train leaders, plan overall programs with appropriate supervision.

  6. Provide for the establishment of a nursery during regular hours of church school and worship and other scheduled congregational events as appropriate. Provide nursery supervision and services, monitor facilities and supplies.

  7. Encourage participation in educational programs for members of the church, which are made available through auspices of the Presbytery, Synod, and the wider church.  The duties will include: Collect and disseminate information on camps, conferences, and schools.

  8. See that facilities are appropriate and recommend changes as needed.

  9. Work with the personnel committee to develop job descriptions and guidelines for Christian Education related employees.  Participate in the recruitment and interviewing of these employees.

  10. Implement, monitor, and annually review Hunter’s Abuse and Neglect Prevention Policy.
